Conquest, Moncure & Dunn,
Inc., also completed the construction of the Willow Lawn, Richmond,
Va. Location. This project included the complete
demolition of the former J. C. Penny’s store and new construction of a
46,700 sq. ft. grocery store. The project was allocated, by the Owner,
to take two months for demolition and site preparation and six months to
construct the new store. Because of poor soils, the existing site had
to be undercut by an average of four feet and have stone installed
throughout the winter months. This, coupled with utility line changes
and complete store revisions accounted for $600,000 of additional work
to the base Contract of $2.7 million dollars. The 3.3 million dollar
project was completed in just over nine months, three weeks ahead of the
Owner’s revised schedule.
